Academic Blogging Panel

Posted by Rohan Amanda Maitzen on 12/01/09 at 08:24 AM

Some interesting remarks here:

Participants were Tedra Osell (BitchPhD), Claire Potter (Tenured Radical), Eva Amsen (Easternblot.Net), and Jenny Davidson (Light Reading).

It’s rather curious that some faculty should have trouble counting online refereed journals as real journals. It’s as though the authority of a paper mill and a printing press counts for more than the collective institutional authority displayed on the masthead (or the online equivalent). In another time and another place I’ll bet these folks would have hounded a doctor out of the profession because he suggested that it would be a good thing to wash your hands before interacting with patients.
